Hola me friendos!
Today, I’m focusing on Kings of Leon + The Editors.
So. Kings of Leon. Nashville based brothers/cousin Caleb, Jared, Matthew, Nathan Followhill. A rather electronic sound, tending to focus on the bass and drums.
They have 3 albums out: Because of the Times, Aha Shake Heartbreak, Youth and Young Manhood
Now, I’ll only talk about Because of the Times, because it’s the only one I own/have heard.
Along with a few more rock-like tracks, there are quite a few softer tunes. Well, they start soft, then build up till it’s rock anyway. I don’t really know whether rock is even the right description.
My favourite tracks are Knocked Up, My Party, On Call (one of their more famous songs), Fans, and a few others.
I think the reason I really like these songs, is I’m a sucker for harmonics… and ones like Knocked Up are full of ‘em.
Let’s move on shall we.
The Editors.
I’ve only heard them on the radio, and probably only a few of those tracks, but I love them too.
A Song they play a lot on Triple J is Smokers Outside the Hospital Doors, and I love it. It’s just so, dark or something. Anyway.
For the last maybe two weeks, I’ve thought Empty Walls was also by the Editors – not really sure why, now I think about it – but after a bit of research just then found out it’s actually Serj Tankian who sings it. So he’s in my favourites at the mo too.
Serj Tankian is a Lebanese born Armenian-American poet gone wild. His newest solo project is Elect the Dead on which he plays just about every instrument.
Well, doing a blog like this really makes one realise how little of an artists work they know, or how a little research can reveal a lot, and all that. So I’ve realised I know next to nothing about the above artists, and really, for most of them, have only heard one or two songs.
So, I leave you, humbler, tireder, and ready to eat chocolate!!!
